Could it be that the hostserver is sluggish (speak slow) at times? What's the problem there?

yes it is. it was alot worse last month. the host company started lately to upgrade servers - a process whats still going on - and adding additional servers. it improved quite a bit over the last 2 weeks. we hope that at the end of their upgrading activities we will not see any problems anymore. it gets partially annoying. we decided to get online anyway at this point, so we dont look at another couple weeks of delays. anyway, we have a close eye on it and shouldnt the situation improve we will consider to move the site to another hosting company (i hope we can avoid that - its alot of reconfiguring).
