I don't know why it's taking people so long to come up with a serious waterproof housing for the iPod. I know that click wheel is sensitive, and maybe that's the sticky bit in the design, but the first company that comes up with a truly waterproof housing for the iPod is going to make a fortune. H20 Audio -- which makes waterproof housings for iPods that are waterproof to 10 feet -- is trying desperately to make it happen, but they can't seem to get things pulled together.
While I'm pleased to see that they recently developed a waterproof housing for the video iPod -- the unit I have -- it, too, is only submersible to 10 feet, and only when paired with H2O Audio Waterproof Headphones. Featuring a LatchTight locking system, the housing runs $90. Headphones cost an additional $40. Great for the beach, swimming at the pool, snorkeling, paddling, or surfing...but not so good for diving. They'll get there.
