I am once again in the market to buy a new dc. I basically narrowed it down to VR-3 or Cochran Gemini. Does anybody has any real world experiences with them and recommendations in one way or another?

| well i have a cochran nemesis nitrox (older model) and i am quite happy with it. def a rock solid, nearly undestructable dc. but i cant say anything about the gemini. friends of mine have vr3 and are more than happy with them. |

The VR3 features mobile phone style LCD panel with one of the best backlights I have ever seen on a dive computer. The orientation of the display can be changed by a couple of simple button presses, which may seem a simple thing but to a right handed computer user is an absolute boon, allowing you to run the PO2 cable up my right arm.
On the side of the case is a port for connection of an external O2 sensor that can be used to provide real time PO2 information to the VR3’s decompression algorithm. The sensor can be connected to virtually any rebreather
The unit comes in several models ranging from a basic Nitrox Open Circuit version through to a Closed Circuit Rebreather enabled Tri-Mix version. All units are upgradeable without return to the factory via a simple PIN system.
Setting up the unit is fairly simple process apart from the eternity it takes to enter the activation PIN!! I spent nearly an hour scrolling through what seemed like every alphabet on earth to enter the correct PIN code,
The unit is capable of handling 10 gas mixes, which can also be changed on the fly in water as well as providing multiple set-points for CCR diving.
The Diveplan software available with the connection kit is also quite versitle, allowing you to set the gas list pre dive ect. Although it did take a while to connect the computer via the infra red lead, I finally figured out that you have to reneter your pin in the software.

Further deeper journeys into the wet and murky, has led me to believe that, so far, the unit is solid and dependable. It has withstood the accidental droppages, clankings against stage cylinders and general unintentional mistreatment, without affecting its operation. In that respect, it’s been flawless. My VR3 even copes with all the drool that people persist in leaving on it after handling!
The VR3 is an extremely well engineered and manufactured dive computer giving that will grow with the diver, whether they are just starting out or an advanced “techie” diver, living up to the claims on the box that it is the only dive computer you will ever need.
I final note for the "kids" out there this unit also include playable games! |

| Oh I also forgot to mention that If you contact DELTA P directly you can receive a special instructor discount from them, basically they give you a voucher worth around seventy five quid, for joining their instructor program. |

i got my hands on one in the meantime, used it, loved it, drooled on it and have to support the drooling resistance of it.
it was all good until thinking about the price. a 75 quid most definately changes my mind!
dont get me wrong! its a great piece of gear, worth every penny - if you can afford it.
love the colorscreen, the upgradable algorithms, the games - how would a Far Cry version would be for the long stop  ! ok, kidding. cant afford it right now, without dumping the volvo740 meets beefedup 8 cylinder ford mustang cobra engine. i love diving, i love cars. i can dive a little longer without a (much wanted) delta p, i am exited about my 5ltr,485hp, 8cyl. volvo sleeper convertion with recreational improvement potential. |

It is itching badly to just buy the VR-3! I think after all my research plus some emails I received it is my favorite between two very nice computers. I have the money right now and before I spend it on something stupid....
I GO AND ORDER    
I will tell you later on if I regret it! Now I have to get my order placed. Now, can't wait, decided and there is no time to be lost! It might cost more tomorrow or YOU buy the last one before me . |
