what is going to come down on great britain is just what germany experiences for many years already! the different valve systems for air and nitrox are a long standing reality there. i would have to do some research in terms of trimix.
a very disturbing trend, costing the enduser additional money to fit his equipment accordingly.
i cant see any practical use for it - to me it doesnt seem like there are unproportionally many accidents in other countries without different valve types for diff. gases.

Brits and expats might be a bit confusing. After all thats a law that would affect all member countries of the EU and might as well affect the worldwide scuba community with it's ripple effects in the longer run. From my point of view it should be signed by any diver. It is just a new attempt to over-regulate the scuba community with another needless law. The only ones profiting from it as I see it are the manufacturers by being able to sell another product (most likely for increased prices) which nobody really needs.

Training proceedures in the use of the gases are there to prevent misuse of the different gases. In other words you are supposed to analyse a tank before you use it.

to true - and i dont think that you make divers happy by forcing them to have diff first stages for every gas - it is just plain bs.
