I just went to the PADI job site to see whats going on this days and to my amazement i read the following there:
To join us in the first Professional Divers Board, www.scubaprof.com - where you will be able to talk about all the problems in the diving industry and review employers and bad and good dive centers to work for in the industry.
So if you feel you can help us to build a community of diving Professionals interested in improving the diving industry and working condition, ScubaProf.com has a place for you.
thanks for reading.
ScubaProf Volunteers.
www.scubaprof.com
Now I have to admit I was a little bit disturbed! First I thought, oh the guys from diveproinfo started under a new name over - even if that makes no sense at all considering that the old name rings a bell with people this days.
So to make it short, i went to the site and first of all i was a bit more disturbed. Considering a professional website one has to wonder about the topbanner on it showing a guy in (freediving?) outfit with his mask in the most unprofessional manner where? - right, you guessed it, on his forehead!!! Now that is a elementary nono for several reasons in scuba diving I thought. One would be that it easy to loose in this position the more relevant is that it is commonly considered as a sign of distress!
So what does the designer trying to tell us - that the site is in distress from start up????
Anyway, I started to look into it a bit. next amazement, i find copied articles from the old diveproinfo messageboard. Why would you have to do that as the first and leader in professional divers online communication one would have to ask himself.
As I looked further I came to the result that it is yet another copy of the real thing (on which I just post right at this moment), so no time to waste there. |

| I guess you're right. It still kind of bugs me when people come with this absurd claims. |

Yes the claim on the PADI jobsite is a bit over the top, but i think Lsdeep is right. They come and go and some stay. It would be nice to see a joined effort instead of the founding of endless new websites with the same goals. As far as i can think about it, in a fairly small community like diving professionals it would be even more important to do so. In my opinion this site did a pretty good job to get dive pro's of different agencies together in the past without ending up in the all to common agency slamming you see on many other sites.
I might even go to join this new site to air my concerns there. No pun intended Jerry but it seems to be the more constructive way to get things together instead of snickering about it here! |

Come on... it is amazing how picky you are. In fairness I used to be a DivePro Info fan, but ScubaProf.com looks way better and has more users than DivePro, that's why I can only wish DivePro good luck.... and welcome to the other site.
Take care fellow divers.

jeez guys, you dont need to start a war here because somebody started a new website. by the amount of websites new every day you need an army of helpers to keep that up!!!
i just like to point out a thread at scubaboard in regards to it: http://www.scubaboard.com/archive/index ... 78748.html
that might set some things straight without me having to say a word about it.
