it gets a bit sickning. jeez, let me find an empty forum to puke 8O.
i know, i am guilty as well - adding all the diving news with the DEMA remarks. seems like this time of the year you just cant get around it. if the company isnt at DEMA they have a special because of it, if they are there - they have a special because they are there......
well dont get me wrong, i agree (have to somehow) that it is one of the biggest, most important dive expo's this days. i even have to admit i was there myself often enough and enjoyed it (should i be hanged, drowned and quartered now????), BUT......
...there are many others (from our world underwater to adex etc.) that are as much fun or even more! maybe not as big and "important" and only for professionals. hey beside the freebies and really cheap give aways, i have more fun at many of the countless other exhibitions / shows / conferences etc. - usually the after hours parties are better 
ok, guess that was it - the little rant about glorifying the one event. maybe i am just p***ed that i couldnt make it happen this year 
i am surely (hmm like what - a leaking drysuit - thats a sure thing in a divers life def, so good enough even as a bad example) looking forward to make it there next year again. i imagine companies giving me free reg's, wetsuits and (non gas integrated) computers, just because it will be the cheap sh!t from yesteryear and nobody wants it anymore really - so the 2 companies that still make it (of the 4 left in the world that manufacture rec. dive gear) try to find desperately instructors that would use it (instead of scr's and ccr's), teach on it (at the time possibly marked as the XXXX historically correct diving specialty - replace the XXXX with any cert. agencies shorts).
something to look forward to at last, beside the endless backpacks, keyrings, t-shirts etc..........  |

Surely you are guilty as well, considering all the posts mentioning DEMA !
Anyway, it is the big event of the moment and everybody is bringing it in their press releases at least ones. So, after confessing we give you absolution (or whatever they do at church). You have to make at least 20 dives within the next 3 month and blow out your mask at least twice on every dive done in this period and all shall be fine!
