PSAI founder, Hal Watts has been training deep divers since 1962 and is one of the leading experts on the effects of nitrogen narcosis in the real world of diving, not the world of cyber divers.
The Narcosis Management program is designed to allow divers to learn their tolerance, or lack thereof, with the gases they are breathing whether they be air, Nitrox, Trimix or Heliox. This method of training works regardless of what type of equipment the candidates use, such as; open circuit, closed circuit or semi-closed circuit.
The new revised Narcosis Management manual is designed to assist divers in becoming better regardless of the depths they are certified to or the depth level they desire to attempt to achieve during the intense training involved in the course. This program is not depth related. The information, knowledge and skills will improve all divers awareness of what to look for during dives, and how to respond to adverse conditions in the safest manner.
Narcosis Management is the PSAI signature course. The worldwide interest in this program has amazed PSAI President Gary Taylor. Gary has just completed the revision of the 113 page diver manual and the, almost 250 page, Narcosis Management instructor manual.
The two weeks following DEMA PSAI will be offering a six-day diver/instructor course for Narcosis Management candidates. As of the date of this DiveWireNews release, PSAI has candidates enrolled from China, Egypt, Germany, Italy, Philippines, Poland, Russia and the USA.
PSAI does not offer instructor crossovers for this signature program. Instructors who want to offer training and certification in the PSAI Narcosis Management program must first go through as a diver and then as an instructor. This is a requirement due to the fact that the diving industry has no equivalent program.
The Narcosis Management program is taught in six depth levels, all being performance based. Candidates must first due Level I to 100’ (30 meters). Each level must be completed prior to the next greater depth. The additional levels are: Level II 130’ (40 m), Level III 150’ (45 m), Level IV 180‘ (55 m), Level V 200’ (60 m) and Level VI 240’ (70 m). Instructors who are approved in writing by PSAI Global Headquarters are the only ones who may teach Level VI.
Instructor Trainer Examiners (ITE) presenting this program in Ocala, Florida following DEMA are: Hal Watts ITE #1, Bob Hambidge ITE #5 and Holger Stock ITE #27. More information may be obtained at our booth. All the new PSAI manuals for divers and instructors will be on display.
Since many “dive plans dissolve in water”, you should practice the saying introduced to the diving industry in 1967 by Hal Watts, which is; Plan Your Dive and Dive Your Plan. |
