On 30th September and 1st October 2006, organized by DESA (Diving Expeditioins Support Agency www.desa.ws), PTA (Pure Tech Agency) and DAN a scientific experiment on deep diving is taking place in Italy.
NUNO GOMES AND CLAUDIA SERPIERI (Both deep world record divers), and together with the other 100 Technical deep divers, will jump in the cold water of the Lake Maggiore (north Italy). they will be divided into several different teams: deep air - 60 meters down; trimix - 100 meters to 130 meters down and re-breather team will go down with some different machines.

However, this is not only a mass deep dive record but an unique and important occasion for the science and medical research to understand and monitorize short/long term effects on the human body.

Doctors from the DAN (Divers Alert Network) the worldwide organization, will look into the nitrogen levels in the bloodstream of over 100 deep divers, also with some underwater eco Doppler examinations. The scuba community believe the results of this study/observations will give doctors and scuba diving trainers a lot of new information which will surely improve the security level for deep divers and will help doctors to give better treatments for diving-related accidents and illnesses.

After many years of planning finally this exciting diving event will be concretized during those two days. The results of this mega diving exercise will be announced on the following evening at a conference attended by over 500 people.
The big-tech-dive in Lake Maggiore will be reminded as the 2006 important episode in diving science and technology."
