Earlier today, Fuji announced "the development" of its FinePix S5 Pro digital SLR camera, which builds on the FinePix S3 Pro. Of course, this begs the question: what happened to the S4?

In any event, the S5 couples the new Super CCD SR Pro sensor - freshly redesigned to reduce noise - with Fujifilm's new RP (Real Photo) Processor Pro for improved results. The S5 Pro, sporting a 2.5-inch LCD, is housed inside a metal alloy frame, meaning it should be rugged enough for even the clumsiest photographer. Featuring Face Detection Technology, increased color and dynamic range control, RAW+JPEG dual-save mode, Nikon F-mount compatibility with all Nikkor AF-D/G and the latest AF-S optics, rechargeable Li-ion batteries, and more, expect the S5 to be available in early 2007.
